URBAN PUBLIC TRANSPORT: A COMPARATIVE STUDY FOCUSED ON A CASE OF THE CITY OF MALAGA

Nowadays, urban transport represents a significant part of total mobility. Therefore, urban public transport is one of the most important sectors to consider when creating a sustainable urban environment since it is the most efficient means of transportation in terms of space and consumption per traveller. In this paper a comparative study of the urban public transport of the city of Malaga, and other Spanish metropolitan areas such as Madrid and Barcelona, is presented. For this purpose, the regulation, organization and financing of the urban public transport are described. Moreover, a comparative analysis of the urban mobility in the Spanish metropolitan areas and the main cities is undertaken. Finally, the comparison of the transport service offer is carried out taking into account quality aspects.Downloads
