Abstract

We verify whether the use of system of internals controls milk enterprises of Alto Paranaíba/MG is consistent with the COSO model (1992), in the perception of their managers. For their achievement, and research of a descriptive nature, was based on a study in 9 (18 percent) of the 51 milk industry in the region, with the questionnaires and verification of control categories most frequently in these companies.

We found there was evidence of the implementation of the Model through a number of categorical variables identified in the milk industry. However, these companies still need more attention to controls over the breach of internal rules, which can interfere with the implementation of their strategies. Although there is an appropriate management and documentation of transactions, there is a lack of formal and standardized procedures that can reduce the quality of the final product, causing rework and/or unnecessary spending.
