This paper analyses the "academic entrepreneurship" as a determinant factor during the creation process of academic spin off at the Costa Rica Institute of Technology (ITCR), being the first of its kind, which includes variables such as: personality, ability, professional background and willingness to be involved in business activities. It uses the methodology of the case study and determinant factors proposed by O’Shea et al., (2008).
