This paper aims to contribute with reflections and discussions presenting some guidelines which define the culture of the Pantanal of Mato Grosso do Sul, Brazil, within the religious universe that pervades and constitutes an area of profane production. The main objective is to identify some popular beliefs, which permeate and integrate the culture of the Pantanal. These beliefs are the guidelines that prepare people for life and everyday life issues. Tourism in this context serves as the venue for the consolidation of cultural practice among the changes caused by the modern world. The contextualization methodology was based on theoretical frameworks, discourse analysis of their own wetland and discussion of results among the actors involved in the work produced. Partial results point to an education that realizes and integrates cultural and religious references in their social and educational proposals, as a way to (re) cognition, (pro) motion and continuity of culture and pantaneira identity.
