Abstract

This paper puts forward some critical reflections on the achievement of the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. Through analysis of investment frameworks and urban interventions planned by the Management Committee of the 2014 FIFA World Cup, a preliminary assessment of the impacts for this mega-event in Brazil is carried out. It is intended, in the same way, to compare this data to the Strategic Proposal of Tourism Organization of the 2014 World Cup, prepared by the Ministry of Tourism. The results obtained give a contribution to the study of the impacts of the Brazilian World Cup on tourism development, as well as the possible consequences to the country in the future.
